The Switzer Gallery and Lamar Studio at Pensacola State College

The Switzer Gallery and Lamar Studio occupy a special place in the life of Pensacola State College and the lives of Northwest Florida residents and visitors. As teaching galleries, they are catalysts for creativity by providing for our students the best examples of contemporary art related to studio endeavors.

The Switzer Gallery and Lamar Studio serve to encourage creative collaborations with artists and local arts organizations. Through The Switzer Gallery and Lamar Studio, we span and build upon the strengths of the community. The galleries have a vital role to play as resources for learning that connect academia to the public at large.

Mission

The Switzer Gallery and Lamar Studio at Pensacola State College are teaching institutions that exhibit, collect, interpret, lend, and preserve the visual arts. The Switzer Gallery and Lamar Studio focus on contemporary art with an active commitment to taking an academic approach to programming and collections management. They fulfill the college’s educational mission by serving as resources for the visual arts by presenting exhibitions and programs to the academic audience and the general public.

Permanent Collection

Call For Art, Artists and Entries!!!

Professional artists are welcome to submit their artwork(s) for consideration for an exhibition in the Switzer Gallery or the Charles W. Lamar Studio at Pensacola State College.

Submissions are currently being accepted year-round and all submissions should be compiled into one: PDF, PowerPoint, or Word document and submitted to the Gallery Coordinator, Chelsea Weaver: cweaver@pensacolastate.edu

The Anna Lamar Switzer Center is named in honor of Anna Lamar Switzer. Mrs. Switzer was the grandmother and mother of the Switzer and Reilly families, who provided the transformational dollars to renovate and expand the Center in 2002.

The Anna Society was formed by a core group of arts supporters and an additional matching gift by the Switzer Family to help continue arts advocacy and support for PSC’s Visual Arts students and programs.

In 2014, the Switzer, Reilly, and Lamar families committed funding to build the Charles W. Lamar Studio at PSC’s Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts.

In February 2018, a dedication was held announcing the completion of the new addition housing the Lamar Studio.

The Anna Society is a group of individuals who are passionate about arts education and visual enrichment along the Gulf Coast. This group advocates for and provides foundational dollars to the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts, enriching our surrounding community.

Anna Society members make a difference to Pensacola State College by annually contributing their time, talent, and resources towards the heritage and artistic future of Northwest Florida.
