Vivian Spencer is a photo artist with a M.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she was a Graduate Fellow. A native of Pensacola, Spencer has exhibited her photographs in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States and Japan. A retrospective of Spencer’s work was shown at the Florida Museum of Women Artists in 2012. Her work is represented in many private collections and public collections include the Pensacola Museum of Art, Cinco Banderas, and the West Florida Regional Library.
Spencer has received the Ars Longa, Vita Brevis Award, and had her photographs published in Deconstructing The Image, Body Of Work Exhibition, Artel Gallery, Florida History and Arts Magazine, Cinco Banderas Permanent Collection Catalogue and Contemporary Photographers, Vol. 1 Llford Corporation.
Spencer is the Director of the Anna Lamar Switzer Center Gallery, Pensacola State College, where she curates and designs exhibitions, manages the permanent collection and plans the visiting artist series. She has also served as the Executive Director of the Belmont Arts and Cultural Center, Curator of Education, Pensacola Museum of Art, Visual Arts Chair, Washington High School.
