Ben Twingley has been an Adjunct Professor of Ceramics at Pensacola State College since 2016.
He was a staff photographer for the Pensacola News Journal for 11 years before joining the faculty and staff at PSC. He served on the PSC Photography Advisory Committee from 2010-16.
In 2005 he returned to clay, under the wing of longtime PSC Ceramics Professor Bill Clover. It was a gateway back into clay and the Gulf Coast ceramics Community.
That led him to the process of wood firing with the Gulf Coast Kiln Walk Society.
His work has been collected nationally and internationally. He has shown his work at the Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival since 2010 and has been featured in shows throughout the Gulf Coast.
Twingley has taught ceramics at First City Art Center since 2009. In 2016 he was also named ceramics studio manager where he helped execute the expansion of their ceramics studio through a $100,000 grant from Impact 100 Pensacola Bay Area.
He has volunteered for Pensacola State College since 2006. His involvement including creating hundreds of bowls for the annual Manna Food Pantries “Fill-A-Bowl” fundraiser. He later led his own team of creatives in the effort after Bill Clover retired from the lead.
Twingley received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Minnesota State University Moorhead. He is currently pursuing his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of South Alabama.
