SIMULTANEOUS IMPLICATIONS

Artist: Jerry Uelsmann

Date: 1976

Category: Photography

Medium: Silver Gelatin Print

Item #: 046.76.PH

In Collection: Distinguished Artist Collection

Uelsmann’s earlier and later works are representations of his use of multiple negatives to produce his surreal, dreamlike photographs.
For the past five decades Jerry Uelsmann, a pioneer in manipulation in the darkroom, has been successful in creating a never-ending array of surreal photographic montages by hand. In this age of ever-advancing computer technology, Uelsmann is more than content to remain cloistered in his darkroom – with as many as five or six enlargers at his command to create, distort and expand on his vision. “My whole career has been built on and continues to thrive on the silver print; that is where all of my energies go, says Uelsmann.
