As a Time-Life photojournalist in the 1950’s and 1960’s Shay recorded the history and progress of the Civil Rights Movement along with the lives of those involved and affected through his camera lens.

This image was part of Viva Florida 500: Celebrating Florida’s heritage and cultural history. Karen Glaser first became enthralled with underwater photography in 1983 and has been underwater ecosystems, including oceans, freshwater springs, outdoor swimming pools and wild swamplands.

Fisherman on Inle Lake is a depiction of the universal aspects of the working man. The image speaks to the point that fishing and being a fisherman, although done in several different styles, whether off a bridge, in a boat or on stilts, is fundamentally the same for all mankind.

The serene black and white print is typical of Clyde Butcher’s photography. Using a large format camera he hand processes his photographs on silver gelatin fiber-based paper. His photographs are selenium toned and printed in limited editions.

“Ode to Susan” draws upon the long tradition aprons have played in all cultures as symbols of work, homemaker, caregiver and celebratory moments. This apron references the mid-20th century idealized woman in her “pretty little apron” waiting for her husband to come home and do his bidding.

Tom Nakashima is an internationally exhibited artist who has had over 30 major solo exhibitions.
Nakashima’s work is in the permanent collections of The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Smithsonian’s American Art Museum, L’Hermitage and numerous other museums.

The monument to Leonardo da Vinci, on Piazza della Scala, was wrapped with polypropylene fabric and red polypropylene rope, in the fall of 1970, in Milan, Italy. The fabric had been sewn beforehand according to patterns allowing ample folds.
